The following is the transcription of family records from the Clarence Earl Cardwell Family Bible. This record was recently purchased by Mr. Keith Holbrook at an antique auction in Seneca, South Carolina. He would like to pass it along to a living descendant of Clarence Earl Cardwell. If you contact me I will pass along the contact information for Mr. Holbrook. We appreciate Mr. Holbrook contacting us and providing this information for Cardwell researchers.

Clarence Earl Cardwell was the son of Andrew Jefferson Cardwell and Margaret Suggs. Andrew was born on 26 July 1861 in McNairy County, Tennessee and died on 27 Mar 1937 in Alcorn County, Mississippi. He was the son of Thomas D. Cardwell and Lucretia Arnold. Thomas D. Cardwell was born in March 1833 and died on 29 Jan 1915 in Dyer County, Tennessee. Thomas was a veteran of the Civil War (Confederate). He was the son of William Cardwell and Celia Harper. William Cardwell was born about 1801 in Virginia and died between 1850-1860 in McNairy County, Tennessee. He was the son of John Cardwell and Mary Royall of Claiborne County, Tennessee. John Cardwell is reported to have been a veteran of the Revolutionary War, but there has been no supporting documentation found to date and is added here based on verbal family history. He was born about 1760 in Cumberland County, Virginia and died in 1824 in Claiborne County, Tennessee. He was the son of George Cardwell and Letitia (possible Lee). George Cardwell was born about 1720 in Henrico County, Virginia and died 28 May 1765 in Cumberland County, Virginia. He was the son of Thomas Cardwell and Martha Perrin. Thomas was born about 1683 in Virginia and died on 02 Dec 1772 in Henrico County, Virginia. This line has been identified as Cardwell Line I in the Cardwell DNA Project by the testing of a living descendant of William Cardwell and Celia Harper’s oldest son, Hiram Clark Cardwell.
